PETG is an amorphous copolyester. In its production process, due to a certain amount of ethylene glycol is replaced by 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol(CHDM), crystallization can be prevented and improve manufacturing and transparency. Its products are highly transparent and impact resistant, especially suitable for forming thick wall transparent products, and its processing and forming properties can be arbitrarily shaped according to the designer's intention.
1. Thermoforming performance: PETG sheets are easy to produce products with complex shapes and large tensile ratios. Unlike PC board and impact modified acrylic, this board does not need to be pre-dried before thermoforming. Its molding cycle is short, the temperature is low, and the yield is higher.
2. Toughness: Extruded sheets of PETG sheets are typically 15 to 20 times stronger than general purpose acrylic and 5 to 10 times stronger than impact modified acrylic. PETG sheets have enough endurance to help prevent breakage during processing, transportation and use.
3. Weather resistance: PETG sheet provides weather resistance. It keeps the product strong and prevents Browning. It contains UV absorbers that can be co-extruded into a protective layer to protect the plate from harmful UV rays.
PETG is a copolymerized modified version of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) by introducing cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM) to replace part of the ethylene glycol monomer, destroying the crystallization of PET and making it an amorphous polymer. This structural improvement gives PETG greater toughness and transparency.
